endoscopy

Upper Endoscopy / EGD / Esophagogastroduodenoscopy is a procedure used to define a patient’s anatomy inside the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.

EGD is an option provided for patients who can tolerate sedation for endoscopy. A small 9mm fiberoptic camera is briefly placed in the mouth and gently advanced into the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum to evaluate for any abnormalities. Biopsies can also be obtained at the same time.
